surprise wedding proposal | haystack rock, cannon beach or
When Gavin got in touch with me via his photographer, Katy Weaver, to plan his proposal to then girlfriend Nicole, I was over the moon. With the help of Lily & Cane Event Rentals, Jodi Iverson Florals, and an in-depth interview with Gavin on Nicole’s likes and dislikes when it came to floral, decor, and snacks, we were off to the races.
Planning a surprise proposal on one beach, an outfit change, and travel to a second location where your surprise picnic awaits is no easy feat! Katy and I teamed up to ensure no detail was left untouched, and planned out a meticulous afternoon and evening for Gavin to pop the question at Haystack Rock.
After a makeup touch up (so many tears!), they drove over to Indian Beach, where I had set up a sweet little nook for them to pop some champagne, red wine, and indulge in some Oregon-centric snacks. If you’ve never been to Indian Beach, it’s a sweet little area within Ecola State Park. After about 7:00p in the summertime, it clears out and you’ll typically have it (mostly) to yourself!
Gavin brought Nicole down the stairs with Katy snapping photos as I anxiously waited in the distance. She was overjoyed to see her little modern-bohemian picnic set up, and the two sat for hours enjoying each other’s company. Gavin even gave me a heads up on their favorite songs, so I could have them playing on a bluetooth speaker when they arrived and throughout their stay.
