jaw-dropping wedding editorial in battleground wa

My dear friend Teryn has opened up a new studio and small event space in Battleground WA. We were all set to do a huge grand opening party in April of this year, and well — we all know what happened in March. As WA moved through a shelter-in-place order through May, we got word that things could slowly open back up with additional safety measures in place. Then the literally unthinkable news dropped of weddings having to reduce their headcount drastically, and then came word of no receptions in WA state at all.

As planners and creatives in the wedding industry, it’s important to be able to think on your feet and adapt when rapid change comes about. Here was Teryn with a small event space that could accommodate the now super-popular micro-wedding, and here I was with the arsenal of vendors to stage it in a way that would make it appeal to couples looking to host. Styled shoots are great, especially for situations like this, when couples could have trouble visualizing what a blank-canvas event space could actually look like on their wedding day.

I had always been dying to work with Jodi of Jodi Iverson Florals, because her style is one that deeply resonates with me as a creative. Her florals tell a story, they’re romantic, timeless, and always have a touch of modern with them. As a vendor, she’s collaborative, super professional and responsive. As a human, she’s an all-around good one! Jodi and I have worked together many times since this shoot, and I can’t wait to partner with her again. She had the idea to invite additional photographers to this shoot and make it a shoot-out style. I had never participated in or facilitated one of these before, so this was exciting new territory for me! Everyone was so anxious to participate in something creative after being cooped up for so long, so we donned our masks and made it happen!

In this post, I’ll feature a few photos from each photographer’s gallery that they sent over to showcase their different styles. This is a great example of how unique each photographer’s style can be, and will hopefully aid you in nailing down some key points and must-haves for you as you search for your own photographer.
